What to see in the Serra de Tramuntana in Mallorca?

Before going into detail, we would like to make it clear that the mountain range extends across the northwest of the island. It is an area that is gradually gaining more and more tourism, but it can still be defined as a natural and peaceful area. If you really want to disconnect from traditional tourism, this is an area that will not disappoint you. Besides, it will take you very little time in the rental car, which is why I personally recommend that you add this stop to your agenda during your holidays.

1- Cuevas del Drach

The best way to enjoy the sierra is to start by visiting the Drach caves and then visit the Rafa Nadal Museum if you like tennis. These are two really nice places to start your visit to the sierra on the right foot.

Then you can head towards Alcudia and take the opportunity to make a stop at the Sa Colomera viewpoint. It will be easy to get to this viewpoint and you will be able to enjoy the beautiful views. From this viewpoint you can enjoy the charm of Cap de Formentor.

2- Pollenca

This is undoubtedly one of the most highly recommended villages in Mallorca for its great beauty. If you like rural and traditional beauty, in this village you will find the charm you are looking for. Not forgetting that it has a large number of restaurants and accommodation to get your strength back.

The village has many places to visit, but if you want to enjoy yourself you should visit the Calvario. It is at the top of the village and you will be able to see it from a beautiful panoramic view.

Inside the village you can also visit the Roman bridge, which gives an extra touch of elegance to the village. If you like medieval things, you will fall in love with this area of the village. It is also important to visit the main square and the church of Santa María dels Àngels.

3- Deia and Fornalutx

These are two other villages that you will really like in the mountains. Although they are small villages, they are worth a visit because they show us the true charm of the area. It is hard to believe that on such a touristy island there are still small villages as beautiful as these.

The stone houses are the main protagonists. It is advisable to park the car and wander around the streets of these villages.  It is true that there are no great monuments, but the feeling you get when you walk through the streets makes it one of the most beautiful villages on the island and in the country for many people. As they are small villages, you will have seen them in a short time, but I invite you to take your time to savour them to the full.

4- Sóller

Another village in the mountains that you should visit is Sóller, a very pretty village that is larger than the two previous ones. The village is beautiful and has many hidden charms.

A visit to the church of San Bartomeu is a must. The modern façade and the classical interior are striking. Even if you are not much of a church visitor, it will surprise you.

Don’t forget to visit the station of Sóller. You will not only like it for its elegance and its trains, but also because there is a room with works by Picasso and Miró. Of course, if you can, you should visit Sa Fábrica de Geltas and finally the port of Sóller. In this area you will find a lot of bars and restaurants.

5- Valldemosa

Another of the villages that you should not miss. In the area you will be able to enjoy beautiful natural landscapes, but you should also take the village into account.

It is a very famous village, so you will find a lot of tourists. If possible, it is advisable to visit it outside of public holidays, so you can enjoy it more. In this town you can see interesting things like the Royal Charterhouse, where you can find a small museum dedicated to Chopin. It is important to visit the gardens of King Juan Carlos, the Palace of King Sancho and the Mirador de Miranda del Lledoners. These are places you are sure to like and you will want to take more than one photo.

But you should also go down to the lower part of the village and lose yourself in its streets, they are beautiful. It is true that visiting them is not so common for tourists, but if you like to get lost and have the feeling of travelling back in time, you will like this walk.

Taking advantage of your visit to this village, you can take the opportunity to take your hire car and visit the Torre des Verger. For this reason, from Autos Mallorca we always recommend renting a vehicle with no mileage limit, so you can enjoy freedom of movement around the island. It is a beautiful area where you can enjoy a viewpoint that you will fall in love with from the first minute. This viewpoint is another of the most famous in the mountain range, which is why I recommend you make a note of it in your tourist agenda.
